Body Composition Scale

Patients wanting to do telehealth for weight loss need to have an advanced scale that measures more than just body weight. You need a scale that measures body composition. Why? Because you don’t want to lose weight; you want to lose fat.

The scale we use in the office and recommend:

Extreme low-calorie dieting can lead to significant muscle loss instead of primarily burning fat. The body starts breaking down muscle tissue for energy when it doesn’t have enough calories from food, impacting metabolism and overall health in the long run.

This is a bad thing.

Muscle tissue is more metabolically active than fat tissue. Muscle tissue uses glucose and fat for energy. Muscle uses more calories than fat throughout the day, even when resting. 

This is a good thing. 

To ensure you are losing fat rather than just muscle weight, we employ body composition analysis. We use the body composition scale in our office for patients who check in once a month. We require telehealth patients to purchase this or another reliable digital body composition scale to accurately track their progress.
