Tea can help prevent female cancers
Whether you choose to fill your cup with black tea, white tea, green tea or tasty red tea, filling your cup with tea just twice a day can lower your risk of developing ovarian cancer by up to 30%.
Accorrding to The National Cancer Institute, " The antioxidants found in tea–called catechins–may selectively inhibit the growth of cancer."
These catechins appear to actually trap tissue-damaging free radicals. They also blocked the formation of new tumors, reduced the size of current growths and slowed spread of cancer cells.
Green tea has been the media star for quite some time. However, it’s not a be all and cure all elixir. According to BC Cancer Agency:
"Moderate consumption of green tea appears safe. There is some evidence that green tea may prevent the occurrence of some forms of cancer, but the mechanisms of action of its specific constituents are poorly understood. Preliminary evidence exists of the potential effectiveness of green tea as a treatment for cancer. Further research into the effects of green tea and some of its constituents would be worthwhile." Boost the benefits of drinking tea even more by replacing soft drinks with tea. Sugary drinks boost insulin which is thought to fuel the growth of abnormal cells.
Again, the benefits of drinking tea seem to be most prevalent when combined with a healthy diet. Adding a glass of tea to your fast food meal is NOT going to cancel out the harmful properties of your deep fried chicken wings and fries!
