Carrots + hummus make for a great tasting energy boosting snack
It’s mid-afternoon and you’re hearing those sweet treats calling to you… promising you a quick burst of energy to get you through the rest of the day. It’s a trick! Popping those sweet treats into your mouth is like throwing a boomerang…. before you know it, your energy is lower than it was BEFORE your mid-afternoon snack.
According to Cynthia Sass, R.D., M.P.H in the October 16th, 2007 issue of Woman’s World Magazine, carrots and hummus makes a winning combination.
"Together, they’ll boost your blood-sugar level and keep it relatively constant for the rest of the afternoon."
The Fat Free Vegan Kitchen has a GREAT recipe for Shiny Happy Carrot Hummus which was inspired by 28 Cooks’ Moroccan Carrot Hummus. Two positively inspiring recipes to help you create a healthy snack that won’t leave you sugar crashing and feeling flat after 30 minutes.

I have never really tried eating humus before, but I can testify to the boomerang affect that food can have on my energy level. I have been doing my best, trying to cut out soft drinks from my daily diet… well, at least the sugary ones. I still cheat every now and then and have a diet coke, since it doesn’t have the sugar. Other than that, I’m doing my best to stick to water all the way.

I’ve never really been a fan of store bought hummus… But I just tried making my own one day and it tastes great! You can play with the tastes and see what works for you. I made one with chickpeas and kidney beans that turned out quite well! Plus you can’t go wrong with the protein and fiber benefits… It’s a good way to keep a little energy going all day.

I have been making carrot-hummus crab cakes with curry for ages. I don’t know if I notice a big energy boost but at my age I am always looking for new ways to get in extra fiber.

Yea that’s what we all do, go and eat the fastest energy boosting snack whenever we feel out of energy, id does give you a great boost but after it’s all gone through your system you end up feeling worse than you did before you took the snack. In my opinion it’s a vicious cycle as you easily end up going back for another snack when you’re feeling energy less again.
to tell you the truth I’ve never heard or tried of carrot-hummus and to tell you the truth I also never knew that such a combination will give you a good long lasting healthy boost of energy. I’ll sure try and grab some recopies on line and try and see what happens.
